I continue to be fascinated by the old Erie glass plate photos. One comment
I had about Friday's edition: whomever wrote (was it Pat?) that F-07 was
probably not Newburgh NY but Newburgh Ohio is probably correct. I'm
attaching two Internet views of the joint Erie-West Shore passenger station
in Newburgh. An interesting building with Erie on the lower level and the
New York Central West Shore station on the upper level. According to local
history, West Shore moved to a bigger, grander station in 1912 while Erie
remained in the original station until passenger service to Newburgh was
discontinued in April 1936. That was kind of early for an entire service to
be discontinued and an Erie employee, Cameron Blaikie, wrote a story about
it which was published in the April or May 1936 Erie Railroad Employee
Magazine.
