This EL+Chessie map was done by Chessie itself and appeared in the February
1976 TRAINS magazine (the one with the great Buffalo Terminal article by Ken
Kraemer and Devan Lawton).

I knew I had seen a map published in a magazine, but I couldn't remember which
one or when it was done. At first I thought it was in Rails Northeast so I
hunted down the box that had my collection of those and started going through
them, but when I got to June of 1976 I started to think it must have been in
TRAINS. I thought it must have been in 1975 so finally found the box with
those and started going through 1975 starting with December and going
backwards. After I got through June I realized it was in the February 1975
issue as the map was so fresh in my memory I knew I had seen it in the past
couple of years. Not only do I have two copies of that issue, I had bought it
back in 1976 when I was 14 years old. Its centerspread RR map of WNY was my
reference bible for years and hung on the wall of my bedroom with marker
scribblings on it well into the 1990s.

Because it was created by Chessie and reprinted in TRAINS, I am posting it to
the list. I don't think anyone will complain about the copyright. Fair Use
should cover it.

Henry

P.S. I managed to find all the 1940's TRAINS magazines that I was missing on
ebay (except for V1, No.1 of course!), so once I get caught up with other
things and start going through them, I should be able to post some of the cool
old full page Erie RR ads they ran back then.
