I think mail is indeed the explanation for a stop at Brick Church. I was on
the platform in Brick Church probably just once in my life almost 54 years
ago. I was waiting for an MU and had my Brownie along. The picture does not
show the mail activity but I do remember mail sacks coming off. This was
Train 2, the Pocono Express with E-8's 815 and 814; the train had 10 cars, 5
of which were head-end. It was Dec 20, 1960, the time was 2:35 PM. This RPO
was a very unusual one, at least for the EL.

All in all ---a fair question. I lived in East Orange about 2 blocks from
the Brick Church station and used to go over and watch for the through
trains westbound that stoppped. I never saw an eastbound train. I must
confess...for the amount of traffic, I never understood why they stopped
there.
