Subject: X Tower question
"My_Scans304.jpg" - image/jpeg, 2278x1658 (24bit)

List,

I grew up near X Tower in Olean. We spent a lot of time around there in the
70's, and went inside to talk to the operator once in a while.

Dave Monte Verde just sent along this nice Paul Templeton shot of the
interior, and it brought back a question that I've had for a while. At
the top of the steps, as you entered the tower, there was (I think) a screen
door outside the main door. As I recall, there was an image of the Erie
"Smiley" mascot on this door. The doors were inside a small lean-to
shelter, so the entry was kind of a dark area, and I don't have a real clear
memory of this.

The question is, does anyone else remember this image of Smiley on the door
of X Tower (or any other Erie building, for that matter)? Also, would
anyone happen to have a photo of one of these doors? I've been kind of
curious as to how it actually looked.

Thanks in advance,

JR
