Subject: Another Dose of my EL concept
"NYEL.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1678x901 (24bit)

Here is an outline of what me theoretical EL ca.1977 would look like. So I'm kind of doing an analysis of how it would effect traffic patterns. Some assumptions: 1. EL actually spent the $45 million dollars in capitol improvements recommended by Wyer, Dick & Co for the EL merger . Part of which was a new bridge south/east of Binghamton to allow trains on the former Erie to run into the former DL&W yard from the east. 2. EL now has a route through Philly from Washington to Montreal so they could participate in north-south traffic. How would that effect things? 3. What traffic does the "board" here think might be redirected down the former Lehigh Valley at Waverly? Taking into account that there is now a major classification yard in Binghamton. 4. What is the likelyhood that the former DL&W New Jersey cut off would have still been abandoned like Conrail did?

PS- Thanks to my fellow enthusiasts for helping me develop my concept. And I'm sure I will have more questions later, but this is enough for the members to chew on for now and it is time for bed anyway.
