Subject: Where did all of the headend mail come from??
"DL_W_NJ_Barge_pier_Scene_3-1959.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1094x737 (24bit)

The photo that I had of #15 the OWL at Bath, NY in 1955 raised some
discussions about the headend business that #15 and the New York Mail #10
had on it. I knew the trackwork at Buffalo---the side track and lower level
tracks that handle the cars there, but I never remember seeing long lines of
mail trucks unloading or loading at 'oboken, until one of my friends sent me
this photo and said: "Where a lot of that head end traffic came from ......"
This 1959 scene shows a track like 17 beyond where the business cars were
kept that extended out onto a pier track. The question is did the mail come
over in the lighters to this pier from NYC and then get loaded into the
headend cars at this pier/dock?
