I was going through some old paperwork and found this neat newspaper
article from 1991. It's a story about a former Erie Steam locomotive
Bell that was being used as a trophy of sorts for a local football
rivalry. Anyone know if Clifton or Passaic still uses the bell for
football games? (See attachment)
The bell was donated by a gentleman by the name of Johnny Collins who
worked for the Erie, according to the article the 250lb bell only went
missing for a couple of days. Anyone ever attend a game and see the bell
in use (They actually ring it) Is it still in Clifton's possession?
Supposedly the Clifton Mustang Cheerleaders used to wheel the thing out
at game time!
Todd-

As a side note my Fire Co. still has an Erie bell sitting in a closet
off Erie switch Engine #226 (It was sitting in the West Paterson NJ
borough hall basement for decades, L O N G story), it's in pretty poor
shape and needs of some TLC and restoration. Someday....
