Subject: NYS&W Hanford Branch
"scan0003.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1700x2340 (24bit)

I always thought the Hanford Branch was more interesting than the Hainsburg
line of the NYS&W with the zinc mine in Ogdensburg and the towns of
Franklin, Hamburg, and Sussex receiving freight service. However, there
aren't very many pictures of the line in operation in the 50s. I found
this in the April '59 Trains. This is a shot taken in Hamburg. The
Susquehanna freight house is in the upper right. The two RS1's seem to be
handling a pretty long train. I always thought there were a lot of
customers along that line including Agway/GLF in Sussex but management
seemed to have other ideas. Anyway enjoy these pictures.
