Subject: DL&W Crossing watchman's shanty colors
"DL_W_Shanty_3_January_8_08.jpg" - image/pjpeg, 1350x1800 (24bit)

The Chemung Valley Railway Historical Society is
planning to paint its former DL&W crossing watchman's
shanty - see attached pictures - and move it to
Elmira's Eldridge Park - back alongside the former
DL&W R-O-W. This structure was originally located at
14th street in Elmira Heights until the early 70's. It
was sold to a gentleman in Elmira and moved to cottage
area in Big Pond, PA until it was acquired by CVRHS.

The question that we need clarified - what color was
the shanty originally? When we received it it had both
faded and peeling red and green paint, though the red
seemed to be the base color. I would have thought that
standard green & red DL&W station colors would be in
order, but the consensus seems to be that it was solid
red.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance,

Rob Piecuch
