Ron,

To the best of my knowledge, two of the Cleveland Hullets remain disassembled
in open storage on Whiskey Island. I have attached a maps.live.com bird's eye
view, I believe it to be a view from within at least the last two years.

The actual live.com page: http://www.railfan.net/short/?514

I know this is a bit OT, but thehre is a lot of historical interest in these
wonderful beasts.

I have been unable to find much factual info about their disposition beyond
2006. At that time the Cleveland Port Authority, which took ownership and
dismantled the Huletts in 1999, wanted them cleared away from their storage
location at the Cleveland Bulk Terminal on Whiskey Island. The Port was
leasing the 18-acre CBT to shipping concern Oglebay Norton, which wanted the
1.5 acres for a pile limestone instead of a pile of Huletts. A figure of $6
million was mentioned as needed to move, build a foundation, restore and
erect the two Huletts at some future site. They had been hoping to secure a
site in the Flats, but negotiations fell through in 2005. In an about.com
article, it is mentioned that as of 2007 they still existed in storage,
presumably on Whiskey Island. There is a January 2008 blog entry (linked
below) that implies that they are still in storage there.

The good news is that I haven't found anything saying they were scrapped. I
think that would be prominent preservation news if it happened as the
Huletts were designated as a Historical Mechanical Engineering Landmark and
also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
