Subject: DL&W 2-8-2 2100 Series Question
"DL_W_2-8-2_2135_at_PM.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1024x593 (24bit)

Can anyone help with a question about the DL&W 2-8-2's? There were several
series of these locomotives that were built for the DL&W over several years.
I am modeling the 1952 era and a number of the 2-8-2's survived until the
end of steam. Nickel Plate Products produced two versions of the these
locomotives - one with a footboard pilot and one with the conventional pilot
- both are the later 2100 series version with the Delta trailing truck.
Other than that difference, both model versions are the same with links to
model photos.

At the end of steam, there were several of the two different classes still
operating - L-2c (1238-1262), L-2d (1253-1262), L3b (2126-2140)and L-3c
(2141-2150). Can anyone provide information on which locomotives survived
until 1950-1952? I have the Tabor books that does list scrapping dates, but
not which ones had the footboard pilots at the end? Here is the list from
Tabor of the 2100 series:

2108, 2107, 2111, 2116, 2132, 2135, 2137, 2141, 2150

Again, which ones were with footboards vs. regular pilots at the end of
steam? In one of the Morning Sun books, it does show 2141 with the regular
pilot, but that's the only photo of the 2100's I have found in the 1950's
era.

Thanks.
