"HSR_tracks_Stevens_PA_Building_North_View.jpg" - image/jpeg, 384x512 (24bit)

I was visiting some freinds in Hoboken recently and had a few minutes to walk around down by the river, near Sinatra Park/5th St. The HSR of course ran in the street and into the Port Authority and Holland America piers down there back in the day. With all the development on Hoboken over the last 20 years (jeez, in the last 5-10 years, since I moved out!) I wondered if there was still any sign of the Hoboken Shore RR. At one time I knew where every rail and overhead wire hanger was. So, I poked around and, incredibly, there's still some rail in the ground! I took a few phtoos with my cellphone, so these are not great, but, there it is!

The building in the photos is the Stevens Tech maintenance HQ, it's their parking lot. I'm pretty sure that this was a Port Authority admin. building long ago. It's built pretty much on the spot where the Holland America building is in this Shorpy photo from 1910.

And the HSR tracks are pretty much where those boxcars are in the same photo. It would have been the Manufacturer's RR then I think, and it lokks like it's under wire. That stone wall with the road going up to 5th St. from River Road/Sinatra Drive on the left is pretty much intact today.
