First, I would like to thank both the Montana Operation Lifesaverorganization and Montana Rail Link for the tour of the MRL Livingston shops andallowing some close ups of former EL-SDP45 3657, now MRL 332. Sorry, list, no broadsides or cab/nose shots. This was a tour of a working locomotive shop that includes a wheel truing bay, wheel and truck changing bay, high and low crane bays for lifting out motors, generators, and what have you for repair, and all the other "normal" maintenance for both the old and post 2005 EMDs. They do not do GEs (that's Havre).

Attached are some select shots of our old EL friend, and some new friends:
-a picture with Operation Lifesavers’ Chairman of theboard, with 332 in the shop;
-a picture of our tour guide (and Livingston MT OperationLifesaver board member) showing the day’s date on the new oil filters, as theunit was going out later that day;
-a picture of a new piece of equipment (red). A recent US EPADiesel Emissions Reduction Act grant (50:50) allowed 34-pre-1972 MRL locomotives toinstall an auxiliary power unit (APU) to reduce idling. Those 20-cylinder EMD645s would use 6.5 gallons of diesel an hour. Turing that engine off, and using the APU heats the engine oil, coolingsystem, and keeps the battery charged using only 0.45 gallons of fuel an hour. I worked with that project, and can supply more details that most want to know (about emissions and fuel reduction);
-A picture of the “F” forfront on this unit is white (some are red)
-A picture of one of the side doors open where final checks(and a hook up) are being made (I think that is the door where you can work onpart of the generator, and we were not allowed at that end), and
-A slightly different angle of the “B” end with the stylized “W”and lion’s head.
-A 20-cylinder EMD 645 out of MRL 356 and the "new" 16-cylinder (but broke) EMD from an SD70ACe.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them
Howard.
