Courtesy of Google Earth, a street level view looking west in Little
Valley, NY. The old Grey Milling structure is on the left. LV station was
just beyond it, at 6th St. The distant brick building to the right was
Cattaraugus Cutlery. Both had rail service. This, of course, was part of the
original (1851) Erie Mainline. "Home" (my grandmothers place) was at 7th
street, with the track at the back of the property. Not much rail activity
left there in the ca. 1958-68 era of my memories, but I do have one photo
taken from the hills to the right which shows a boxcar spotted on the mill
siding. I happened to make a trip home from Oregon at the time the track was
being removed, have some photos and some track nails from that visit as
well. The most recent date nails were 1939 if I recall correctly. The
station was still there, at least part of it.
