Mr Thurner, you're right there . . .

A co-worker of mine was taking a look at the ex-ERIE mainline
at Wellsville, NY, and reports two steel box cars which are
presumably ex-ERIE cars. Both are now painted a light gray with
no lettering whatsoever and are without trucks.
The first car is a 40-ft AAR-design with 4-3+R IDE ("rolling pin")
and a post-war-style Youngstown door that appears to me to be 7-
ft wide. Still has full-height 8-rung ladders, but the running board is
removed; non-Ajax brake (maybe Universal?). Could this car be
from ERIE 84300 - 84449?
The second car is a 50-ft AAR with 5-5 Dreadnaught ends and
earlier-style Youngstown doors; the double doors appear to be
equal width (7.5- or 8-ft?). Again, full-height ladders (number of
rungs obscured by brush) and r.b. removed; Ajax brake. Can't see
the A-end to tell if this car ever had end-doors. Could be ERIE
66000 - 66099. Did these have end doors?
I don't know if either of these cars would be of interest to be
preserved. Not knowing much about ERIE preservation, are there
lots of these still around?
