I'm glad I've got this mileage! Erie to Olean behind E-8s. Pennsylvania RR to Buffalo, Central Terminal. Then Pennsy all the way back to New York. Pennsy to Buffalo is the next line to be downgraded and perhaps in the future ripped up. At a red signal near Renovo in the middle of the night the head baggageman asked me if I wanted to join him. He was going out to catch rattlesnakes with just his hands, in the dark! Conductor said "He's good at it!" And so he was! He got two of them right a way. I stayed on the train. Today, I wish I'd gone with him. Lance Erickson
