Bill,

Attached is a picture I shot on 5/28/11 of the tower at Nicholson tunnel.

Subject: (erielack) DL&W Concrete Tower Tile Roof Color

In 1999, there was a discussion among this group regarding the proper color of the original glazed tile roofs on the DL&W concrete towers. At the time, there was some consensus around the tile being a shade or shades of green ranging from forest to light grass green. Also, one posting listed Port Morris as the exception with an terra cotta (oxide red) color tile.

In the ensuing 20 years, has anyone uncovered new information regarding the tile color, in particular for Port Morris tower which I am modeling?

Another discussion around the wood trim color for doors and window frames seemed to indicate a dark "Pullman Green" color was used at least in the 1950's.

Finally, has anyone developed a good technique to simulate the speckled appearance of the DL&W concrete mixture? I imagine a good base would be Floquil Aged Concrete, but getting the black and dark brown speckles resulting from the aggregate used in the concrete mixture is another challenge.

Thanks.
