Subject: Progress on DL&W 1952 HO Layout - Working Signal System
"Double_Dwarf_installed_West_Port_Morris.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1024x768 (24bit)

Folks,

I am sharing a few photos of the progress on my HO DL&W layout set in Port Morris, NJ in 1952.

I have now completed the installation of my fully working signal system that displays all the correct aspects depending on three inputs - block occupancy, aspect of next signal and position of any turnouts or crossovers in the block. I am using Team Digital block detection and have 30 separate blocks on the layout.

The signal bridges were custom made by Model Memories (several on this list also have purchased DL&W/EL signal bridges from MM) and I hand-built the mast and dwarf signals using commercially available components from Oregon Rail, ISS and Showcase Miniatures.

The circuit system was custom designed and built using conventional relays and diodes with a help of a good friend, Victor Hand. Two of the photos show a typical circuit (one is required per signal head). This one is one of the more complex circuits that can display 16 distinct indications depending on the combination of the three inputs mentioned previously.
