Ed,

Branchville, Lafayette and Newton were still receiving freight at the very end. I can't speak for Andover proper, but a few cars were also being interchanged at Andover Junction with the LHR.

Gary,

That may be the case. The Roy Company in Branchville was still receive a
lot of carload shipments and wanted the line to remain open. Becker's
creamery produced about two carloads of milk every day which was
considerable. I thought there was still freight being delivered to Newton
as well. Without Becker, probably the property tax was enough for EL
management to abandon the line. I read that the Roy Company offered to
purchase the tracks but EL refused.
