Subject: Help restore the LACKAWANNA lettering to the Elmira viaducts

The Chemung Valley RHS has been offered the opportunity to acquire a complete set of LACKAWANNA lettering from the Lake Street Viaduct in Elmira for preservation. These were removed from the viaducts in the late 90's when the threat of demolition was feared and are from an individual's collection and is asking $250.00 for the set, but will accept $200.00.

We would like to ask our members and supporters for their help to obtain these. Donations are being requested to help obtain the letters, which will be used to create a template to make new sets to be restored to the Elmira viaducts in conjunction with the Lackawanna Rail Trail project. If you would like to help, any amount, even five or ten dollars is appreciated. They are being held for us while we get the word out. Funds over the needed amount will go towards the replica lettering for all four of Elmira's DL&W viaducts.
