Paul and others,

My solution to simulate the different textures of the tower concrete was to
airbrush the entire surface with Floquil Aged Concrete, then gradually
lighten it up with Floquil White until it looked right to my eye. After
that, I masked the "hammered" areas and lightly dusted the "unhammered"
areas with Floquil Engine Black to simulate the texture as Paul suggested.
In HO scale, you would not be able to simulate the texture to scale, but
this seems to fool the eye into "seeing" texture. Photo is posted of my
Port Morris Tower model.

>>As for the exterior wall color and texture. Yes, should be a darker color
and simply mix in a fine grit to the paint for a "Hammered" finish. The
"hammered" section wouldn't have the grit :)

>I know Scott Lupia has used the Krylon tan "textured" paint to do the paint
to good degree. Another thought I had was to paint the caboose concrete
color, mask the "hammered" sections and overspray with a LIGHT dusting of
black or dark gray to simulate the large aggregate in the "unhammered"
sections.

Suggestions welcome!

- Paul
