Subject: E Stroudsburg Station old and new locations
"IMG_4665_4.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1024x682 (24bit)

Like Mike, I stopped by East Stroudsburg both going and returning from
Scranton Saturday, in order to get two different sun angles. I hadn't seen
the station since it had been moved and wanted to see what was happening.
The following will give everyone an up date on exactly where the new (
permanent ) location for the station is, and how far along they are on the
project.

I had read somewhere that they are on schedule for the dedication this
fall. I think the fall of 2012 would be a more realistic date, but there is a
foundation under it, and a new sidewalk has been pored on two sides. As you
can see the west end is being totally reconstructed, so that it appears
there will be a large room on each end. I was surprised at how far back
from the tracks it sits. I had thought it would have been closer
but............?

What I really was surprised at was the ugly structure that has gone up in
it's place. How E. Stroudsburg could have let this all happen has me shaking
my head. I know it was privately owned but zoning boards and politics have
killed many a good thing, and this certainly was not a good thing no
matter how you look at it. The center of town has now got this ugly monstrosity,
and look at the effort that now has to be given to preserve the station.
I know it's all water over the dam, and they are to be congratulated on
what they are attempting to do with the station at it's present location,
but shame on E. Stroudsburg, from the Mayer and zoning board on down.
