Bob,

Bob Dennis of Cranberry Lake once referred to it as White Rock cut. I'm also surprised that the cut survived because there used to be a quarrying operation on either end of it. My 1918 vals show a stub end siding on either end of the cut. In B0783 the train is headed south.

Sending along a bonus. This is a photo circa 1890 showing the track leading up to, and the south face of the cut in question. The stone cars on the left are on one of the stub end sidings. The siding passes over a stream and the abutments for it are still there.

From yesterday:
Thanks Dave for going to the cut on the Sussex Br yesterday. I can't tell
identical rock make up from the one photo you showed, but If you went with
a print, and confirmed exact rock formations will go with that. Rocks have
a funny way of NOT changing when not disturbed. I guess the official
location would be Byram Twp looking west on the Sussex Branch? Where did
the name white rock cut come from Dave?
