Subject: How I Spent My Summer Vacation - Reprise 9

Here is the next in a series of pictures that we took while visiting the southern tier of New
York. Since the Erie and DL&W no longer exist, all we could do is take pictures of the
remaining infrastructure. Some of it is still in use, some not.

The subject of this series of photos is the Erie ROW east of Elmira. These photos cover the
Erie Bridge over the Chemung River west of Chemung, Wellsburg, and the Erie bridge over Seeley
Creek.

chemung01.jpg - This shot shows the two westernmost spans of the Erie bridge over the Chemung
River. There is a total of three spans to this bridge. The easternmost one is hidden by the
trees growing on an island. This island was north of the bridge when it was built. It has
since migrated downstream to its current location.
chemung02.jpg - This shot details the construction of the spans. These shots were taken from
the Route 17 (future I-86) bridge over the Chemung River.
wells01.jpg - This shot is looking west along the Erie ROW into Wellsburg. The siding here is
occupied by track maintenance equipment.
seeley01.jpg - This shot shows the Erie bridge over Seeley Creek just south of Southport.
seeley02.jpg - This shot details the construction of the spans.
