Subject: How I Spent My Summer Vacation - Reprise 12
"c-dlw08.jpg" - image/jpeg, 67053 bytes, 863x563 (24bit)

Here is the next in a series of pictures that we took while visiting the southern tier of New
York. Since the Erie and DL&W no longer exist, all we could do is take pictures of the
remaining infrastructure. Some of it is still in use, some not.

The subject of this series of photos is the DL&W passenger station in Corning, NY. The station
is currently owned by NYSE&G and is fenced off on the east and south sides. While taking these
photos, a very helpful employee opened up the station and let me look inside, although I took
no photos of the interior. It is being used for storage but a lot of the interior is still
intact if there is ever an opportunity to restore it. The station is situated on the north
side of the DL&W row in a general east west orientation with the front of the station on the
south side of the building. The parking lot is still intact.

c-dlw01.jpg - This shot is looking south toward the north side of the station. Note that the
facilities are located where the short windows are.
c-dlw02.jpg - This shot looking east toward the west side of the station.
c-dlw03.jpg - This shot is of the front of the station taken from the abandoned DL&W ROW. Note
the unusual apparatus on the gable. Does anyone know what this is?
c-dlw04.jpg - This shot details the west end of the front of the station. Note the No
Trespassing sign.
c-dlw05.jpg - This shot details the east end of the front of the station.
c-dlw06.jpg - This shot details the unusual apparatus on the gable.
c-dlw07.jpg - This shot details the unusual apparatus on the gable from a different angle.
c-dlw08.jpg - This shot is of the east end of the station.
c-dlw09.jpg - This shot is also of the east end of the station, showing the apparatus on the
front of the station in profile. The blurring on the edge of the photo is due to it being shot
through the chainlink fence.
c-dlw10.jpg - This shot is also looking at the east end of the station.
c-dlw11.jpg - This shot details the chimney from the east.
c-dlw12.jpg - This shot details the chimney and the vent seen in c-dlw01.jpg.
