Subject: How I Spent My Summer Vacation - Reprise 13
"c-err01.jpg" - image/jpeg, 37735 bytes, 863x562 (24bit)

Here is the next in a series of pictures that we took while visiting the southern tier of New
York. Since the Erie and DL&W no longer exist, all we could do is take pictures of the
remaining infrastructure. Some of it is still in use, some not.

The subject of this series of photos is the former Erie station in Corning, NY. The building
itself no longer exists but the parking lot, sidewalks, and lamppost and flagpole emplacements
still exist. The station was situated on the south side of the Erie ROW in a general east west
orientation with the front of the station on the north side of the building.

c-err01.jpg - This shot is looking northeast from the corner of Sly Ave. and W. Sycamore St.
toward where the station used to sit.
c-err02.jpg - This shot details one of the lamppost emplacements with the ring of stone around
it.
c-err03.jpg - This shot details where the station would have connected with the platform. I'm
assuming that the tile walls was where the facilities would have been.
c-err04.jpg - This shot shows a pedestrian walkway under the ROWs on the east end of the
complex.
c-err05.jpg - This shot details the construction date of the complex above the pedestrian
walkway.
c-err06.jpg - This shot details another construction date of the complex. This was on the side
of the concrete structure where the platform is.
c-err07.jpg - This shot is looking northwest from the corner of W. Sycamore St. and Bridge St.
toward where the station used to sit.
c-err08.jpg - This shot is looking west from the corner of W. Sycamore St. and Bridge St.
toward where the station used to sit.
c-err09.jpg - This shot shows the footprint of the station and the sidewalk in front of it
c-err10.jpg - This shot shows a pedestrian walkway under the ROWs on the west end of the
complex.
c-err11.jpg - This shot is a wider angle shot showing the other end of the pedestrian walkway
on the other side of the ROWs. Note the mural on the wall at the end of the street.
c-err12.jpg - This shot details the mural on the wall. Paul, are the colors correct for this
type diesel engine? :-)
c-err13.jpg - This shot also details the mural on the wall. Not bad for the medium used!

More to come...
