Here is the next in a series of pictures that we took while visiting the southern tier of New
York. Since the Erie and DL&W no longer exist, all we could do is take pictures of the
remaining infrastructure. Some of it is still in use, some not.

The subject of this series of photos are the Erie (2) and DL&W (1) overpasses over Dodge Street
in Corning. All three overpasses are together in one structure. Comparing the construction of
the three girder plate bridges, it is obvious that the DL&W one is much more massive. This
attribute also showed up in the construction of the overpasses in Big Flats.

c-ovrpass01.jpg - This shot is looking south toward the overpasses over Dodge Street in
Corning. The DL&W tracks are closest to you.
c-ovrpass02.jpg - This shot details the east end of the middle overpass.
c-ovrpass03.jpg - This shot allows you to compare the construction of the left overpass (DL&W)
with the other two overpasses (Erie). It is quite obvious that the DL&W structure is much more
massive.
c-ovrpass04.jpg - This shot details the underside of the DL&W overpass. Note the spacing of
the crossbeams compared to the spacing seen in c-ovrpass02.jpg and c-ovrpass03.jpg.
c-ovrpass05.jpg - This shot details the date of construction. All three overpasses had the
same date indicating they were built together.
c-ovrpass06.jpg - This shot details the northwest corner of the overpasses where the stairs
went up to the east end of the DL&W passenger platform. The DL&W station is located just west
of the overpasses. The Erie station was located two blocks east of the overpasses.
