This goes back to a discussion here a few years ago. It seems as if these
three D&H SD45s were rather chameleon-like in nature!

801: This unit was the "stereotypical" EL SD45. It was painted and looked
like virtually every other SD45, with the exception of "standard height"
roof appliances (fans, inertial dust bin filter, exhaust stack)

802/803: I'm not sure what was up with these two! The 802 painters must have
been hitting the sauce when they did this one! The maroon band is a few
inches lower than usual (look at the distance between the bottom of the cab
windows and the stripe to see what I mean). The nose logo that was mounted
at a normal height, but had the roadname off-center, towards the front of
the unit - on BOTH sides! After about 2 years, the nose logo got worn away
and a new one was applied far lower on the nose than normal (maybe to be
more in line with the too-low stripe?). I've attached photos of all these
variations.

Now the 803 received a standard paint job, but at some point, its dynamic
brake blower housing (the big bump on the fireman's side of the unit) was
swapped with the 802's. Since the 802's stripe is lower, now the 802 and 803
had a "stripe mismatch" at this point (see the attached shot of 803)

By 1973, both the 802 and 803 got repainted in the "standard" EL look -
correct nose logo placement, correct centering of the roadname on the sides.
