BH-2 continues to back off the branch. During the rebuilding, major
abutment work was done, not to mentioned brush clearing as the whole thing
looked like a giant garden fixture. During DL&W days, nothing heavier then
a 2-6-0, and later 44 tonners and maybe an EL SW-1 was permitted to cross.
About a mile from the bridge where the branch crossed Rt. 11 was the scene
of a few horrific accidents. During steam days, a passenger collided with
an automobile and three or four local women were killed. Later a 44 tonner
came to grief, after being hit by a truck. Poor ole #51 got knocked on its
side, its trucks and freight cars strewn all over. Not sure of the
injuries.
There's a great picture of a mogul coming off this bridge in the Taber 20th
Century Vol. 1 book. More pictures later.
