A copy of this 1958 book was recently donated to Tri-State for sale. I saw several chapters about the Lackawanna (sorry, no Erie content) and some photos of Lackawanna trains, so I thought it might be interesting to the group. There is also a chapter about the Lehigh & Hudson, and an introduction by U.S. Vice President Richard M. Nixon!

I discussed this with Paul and he feels it's worthwhile to scan and post the photos and articles, so I will start tonight. I won't post every day, so save the posts to get the full set of photos and articles.

Here we go! Each file is one page from the book. I am not sure how well the captions on the photos will come through, so I'll provide short ones:

000 - Might as well start with #3, the Phoebe Snow, passing Point of Gap!001 - Phoebe Snow diner and coach002 - Phoebe Snow observation car, looking back and forward003 - Lehigh & Hudson RS3 #8 and another RS3 on train #32 from the Lackawanna connection to Maybrook, at Warwick, NY. This scene looks to me like Baird's Farm!004 - Top: Lackawanna HB-9 at Port Morris, with connecting traffic from the L&H for East Buffalo, with Trainmaster 853 and another. It looks to me like they are heading EAST, though! - Bottom: Lackawanna #47 at Stroudsburg, with empty milk cars for Binghamton, with chicken-wire F3 804C leading. Revenue run is #44.
