Good question! I'm not sure how often Picatinny got cars, though they did have a pair of switchers on the property. The CNJ actually cut right through the property to get to Green Pound Jct. and an interchange with the Susquehanna.

I've personally NEVER seen any traffic going in and out of the facility - it looks like rail service there had been terminated many years ago. In 1988, Railpace Newsmagazine has a photo of the two switchers loaded onto a flat and leaving the base property, so I assume that inbound/outbound traffic must have ended prior to 1988.

No, the CNJ dropped the traffic off from its Wharton & Northern Branch. Check out the attached cheesy diagram I drew up to try and clarify this.
