"DSC_0380_resize.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1800x1200 (24bit)

0294: We arrive at the NFTA light rail facility (the former site of the DL&W passenger terminal)
0295: That's a historic Buffalo Fire Department fireboat. Not in regular service, but can be pulled out if absolutely needed for
service.
0322, 0323: Views of the shop pit (this is new construction relative to the DL&W terminal)
0340: Looking out the end of the shop building, and we see the DL&W train shed!
0351: Here's a rare treat! We're walking through the lower floor of the train shed, where DL&W/EL used to unload express cars!
0357: NFTA provided us a light rail car to get us from one end of the shed to the other! Sweet!
0358: The eye-popping moment they took us upstairs to see the passenger train shed. YES, IT STILL EXISTS! (used for storage now, but
as you can see from the photos, there's not really much stored here.
0360: Looking the other direction, this is where the headhouse used to be. NFTA tore it down, thinking they had no use for it. I
think they regret that decision now. :(
0363, 0365, 0366, 0369, 0371: Walking through the train shed. WOW!
0380: On the outside, looking up what used to be the terminal throat
0392: Rowing teams on the Buffalo River (the things you see from up there!) They're passing the giant General Mills plant where all
the world's Cheerios and Lucky Charms are made. There was a constant smell of freshly toasted Cheerios in the air here! :)
Obviously, all these mills were the bread and butter of the Buffalo Creek Railroad (50% owned by Erie/EL)
0396: Back inside!
0399: View from the outside looking at the train shed. I'm standing pretty much where the headhouse used to be.
0402: On the return, we decided to walk through the lower floor (instead of taking the light rail car) - lots of interesting details
to see this way!
0405: Case in point: Some DL&W-era lettering on the posts
0407: Continuing the walk....

More to come....
