Once again the benefit of my BCC people, and list members geographic
diversity comes into play. Here we see where an obscure dirt road
crossing is well known by a local. Forwarding Doug's comments on to the
list and *PAT.*

Sure do know !

That is MP 242.22 Cook Crossing south of Sherburne on the Utica
Also known as Peg Leg Crossing. This was the site of the Cook farm for
many, many years. Years ago one of them had a wooden leg and old timers
called it Peg Leg Crossing. I think that barn may have been moved across
the tracks in later years as it resembles the barn that was still there as
late as 1982. I would have to check photos. The barn is gone now replaced
by a shed and the old farmhouse, out of the photo to the right where the
man is standing was also replaced by a newer structure in recent years.
Crossing gates were added in 1980 and flashers had been there way back in
DL&W days as it was a dangerous crossing. That might be one reason the barn
was relocated the other side of the tracks too.

See photo attached taken in January 1982.

Views look down the road south towards Norwich with the tracks to the right
also heading towards Norwich.

The view of open area with semaphores and the nice embankment is looking up
the track towards Sherburne.
