Hi Schuyler,

Thanks for unraveling the number. I didn't know the number series for the
hopper series so the first digit was a mystery. The last digit I had
thought was a "9". I looked at a photo of the cars end reporting marks and
appears it might be a "9". I'll attach the end photo and interior photo for
modeling details.

It certainly would make a nice addition to a museum. If there is interest of
preservation it would have to come soon as I understand the site is to be
redeveloped as housing.

Not hard: 30063

These cars were the 30000 series, and the 063 part if fairly legible.
Actually the 0063 part is there. The leading 3 is hard, came from the
diagram book.

Which also says these had "Low alloy steel" sides. I think that's non-trade
name Cor-Ten equivalent, in other words, copper bearing steel, so the rust
is tight and protects the sides from rusting out. This car probably could
be saved.
