I believe that Scranton painted some early on, but the vast majority were painted in Hornell. I'm not sure if Hoboken did any
repainting?

Your catch of this unit was a good one! The 1241 was the first freight GP7 to get the full GMY paint treatment. And it was the ONLY
one to get painted this way! The shops painted it following some of the early passenger GP7 GMY repaints - Maroon Roman lettering
above the band, and a full black roof. The 1241 was fairly short-lived in this scheme - by the end of 1968, it was repainted in the
later "standard" GMY scheme with a gray roof and yellow Gothic lettering within the band.

I've attached a Jim Parker view of the 1241 that shows the black roof and Roman lettering to better effect...
