Since we are looking at old railway equipment on sidings, check out DL&W boxcar 20067 in this old postcard view, it's spotted at the Terra Cotta works in Port Murray N.J. This plant was operated by the National Fire Proofing Company on the Lackawanna Railroad. Both the Morris Canal and DL&W railroad served the town. The principal industry in the area was this terra cotta tile factory, and it was said the deposit of clay in this area was "Unexcelled for quality and inexhaustible in extent". Later this plant manufactured mainly bricks, anybody know when it finally ceased production?
Well, now we know where the Lackawanna got all that terra cotta tile for it's stations and Towers in the early 1900's! :)
