Ed, Henry & List,

To get an idea how the DL&W would handle Buffalo snow, see my article
"Fighting Old Man Winter" in the DiamonD, Volume 9, No. 2.

The attached photo was taken on Friday of the H-41 local, trying to make a
delivery to the PVS Chemical plant on Lee Street, across from our museum.
They couldn't get in and are parking the cars in the old Buffalo Creek
(Erie) Abby Street Yard. The NS and CSX mainlines are in the foreground,
both ex-Buffalo Creek mainline. Behind the tree near the lot is the WNYRHS
DL&W boxcar.

To the right out of the picture is the old Nickel Plate Yard.

The WNYRHS owns two push plows plus an ex-NYC rotary, built 1887.

The building in the background is the Heritage Discovery Center, future home
of the ELHS Archives. It is one of 9 buildings sitting on our 20-acre site.
The snow removal pix shows our corporate neighbor, Ontario Specialty
Contracting, lending us a helping hand clearing our gate.

PS I have nearly 7 feet at my house. My boys dug me out today for first time
since Sunday. Glad I bought that Ford 150 4WD! Pix of my wife and dog when
snow was only 4 feet deep.
