Hey listers;

Just a touch over 50 years ago, the Lackawanna's Bangor & Portland branch
took delivery of some new arrivals - the six Fairbanks-Morse H16-44's that
became the signature power for the branch in the last years of the DL & W
and the first years of the newly merged road.

Here's a photo-recreation of one of those new arrivals making it's first
revenue run up the branch, bringing an extra through Pen Argyl on it's way
to Nazareth and then on to Bath.

In time, the road will add an extra outside handrail along the long hood,
but other than that, these units will look much the same as this until
merger time, some 7 years hence (although the RFE has had some heated
discussions with the folks in Beloit about the wrong cab sides, but he has
been assured that "it's an easy fix...").

Hope you all enjoy the photo... As time permits, I will offer my personal
observations about these long-awaited diesels from Atlas. In a word,
outstanding.

Jim Harr
