Hi gang,

It's tough for the humble to promote their own events, so here goes the
official release below. This show started on a lark; my wife is a
professional singer-songwriter and a concert presenter asked me to perform
an opening set at her show. My set was so well received and informative
that libraries and other series have been asking for it, so it's coming to
Tri-State to wrap up 2014. With a state-of-the-art sound system at The
Bickford, there will be no better place to hear it than around a bunch of
railroad buffs at a Tri-State meeting. A flier is attached.

Thanks in advance, all ....Mike Del Vecchio

-------------------

Many railroad buffs like to hear music about the trains and life around the
rails. Author, historian and professional railroader Mike Del Vecchio has
been collecting railroad music since childhood and writing songs since his
college years. Thursday, December 11, 2014, he and Jeff Loy will be
performing a selection of songs from many sources that tell tlhe story of
railroading and iron mining in North Jersey in a special show at The
Bickford Theater for the Tri-State Railway Historical Society, Inc. In more
than 35 years of collecting, Del Vecchio has found songs about the
Lackawanna Cut-off, the famous Phoebe Snow, Blue Coal and one of New
Jersey's most colorful steam-era engineers John Draney. Some of the set
list includes his own compositions, one of which recalls the once-busy iron
mines at Hibernia in Rockaway Township. Between songs Mike will share the
historic context of the songs and stories. In addition to his other
pursuits, Del Vecchio has been a professional musician and
multi-instrumentalist for more than 30 years, having performed at most of
the local live music haunts and on many studio recordings with other artists
, and he is active in managing two concert series. His friend and stylish
guitar player Jeff Loy will join him on stage.

The night begins with a Tri-State business meeting at 7:15 followed by a
short presentation by one of its youngest members. After an intermission
the music should begin by 8:30 p.m. This educational program is free to the
public, and all are welcome. Light refreshments are available. For weather
