One might think that there'd be a booming business available for passengers from
the Boonton to transfer to the deadhead and then to the NYS&W at Pompton Jct to
get to/from their jobs in Paterson after the re-route .

Heck, Al Holtz when attending Blairstown Academy would take the DL&W train to
Paterson and then the NYS&W to Hackensack or Bogota to get home to Teaneck for
holidays. People made connections in the old days.

Of course, back in the day, there were other travel possibilities involving the
Greenwood Lake Branch.

Here's the NYS&W/Greenwood Lake/Caldwell Branch/M&E panel from a 1910 NYS&W
timetable showing those convenient "across the platform" connections at Pompton
Jct and Great Notch.
