Subject: Milepost Blueprint--DL&W

I have attached a blueprint for the standard DL&W milepost. I have
additional drawings with information for concrete posts as well. If anyone
is interested.

I also noted the question regarding the naming of Bridge 60 came up again.
Sometime around 1900, the Scranton or Main Line Division of the DL&W did a
survey of all its bridges, and numbered them sequentially from west to
east. This numbering system did not last very long, but it was in use when
the Bridge 60 tower got its name, and there it stuck. You can also see in
Bunnell's photos of the time, he used this bridge naming system. This
numbering system was probably scrapped by the time the Clarks Summit to
Hallstead cut-off was put in (this got rid of many of the bridges in the
original survey and added more).(See attached file: Milepost.jpg)
