Subject: Great Notch photos...
"2576.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1316x882 (24bit)

Since we're waxing poetic about Great Notch, here are some photos to compare
with Todd Hollritt's current day images posted earlier...

448.jpg: The Silver Lake Drill is working the small yard at Great Notch,
Feb. 24, 1976. The crossover seen in Todd's photos is roughly where the
caboose is in this photo by Rich Campana.

2576.jpg: A nice train Advance CX-99 heads west in April 12, 1974. Roughly
the same location in this photo by Curt Carlough.

1241.jpg: A nicely elevated view taken from the road overpass that neatly
shows the station in relation to all the tracks. The locomotive is the power
for the Greenwood Lake Haul and is working the small yard. Note that the
1241 is the only freight GP7 to receive this scheme: The maroon Roman
lettering above the band. March 19, 1966 in a photo by the late George
Berisso.

3377.jpg: Hands down, my favorite all-time Great Notch shot. Four (!!!)
commuter trains are backed up while an eastbound freight, stalled, blocks
their path at the interlocking west of the station. Also note the townhouse
complex at the upper left and the EL MOW truck to the left of the station.
July 1974, Steve Hepler photo.

Enjoy! And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
