Re: (erielack) Fwd: Sale of Erie Lackawanna Station Sign
Who cares!!! Would u rather have seen the sign get torn down or burned like the sign in my hometown West Pittston, on the 'Bloom'????? I wish I'd gone down there with a stepladder & unscrewed the damn thing. The Condomrail folks gave the station to the town & the Philistines promptly burned it for the fire dept. to practice on. This building had (in the freight section) the names of almost every family in town - probly written when the folks were waiting for a shipment of some kind. Some names were carved with a penknife, others written in chalk, charcoal, indelible pencil (the ballpoint pen of the 1800s). Well, it's all gone now. When the last agent left, there were still ledgers with waybills for local stores in Pittsston & WP. I saved a few (I CONFESS - no need for a hearing by Sammy Miller). I'll admit I gave them to the West Pittston Historical Society in case u want to charge them too.

Just wondering: How would a person come to own such an item? Jack
Norris said he bought it, how did that seller come to have it?
