To List;In re-reading John Boehner's "E-L Through Passenger Service" book, on page 18, 19, and 28, the author describes tonnage ratings for E-8's:
pg. 18 Millburn - Summit = 600 tons per unit
pg. 19 Scranton - Clarks Summit = 580 tons per unit
pg. 28 Scranton - Lehigh = 1160 (2 units); same as pg 19.
Does anyone have, or know, what the Tonnage Ratings were, or are, for Other Diesle's? on what % grades?
I am trying to compare with DL&W steam, those ratings are in a 1940 emp. timetable I have, by classes, in "M's" which are units of 1000 LB.s, also used by the Southern Pacific, among others.
I am aware of how train resistance is calculated for grades and curvatures, and how Tractive Efforts are derived; there are several different formula's,
Thank Goodness for Calculators, my K&E Slide Rule has been gathering dust since 1960!
