Re: (erielack) Preserving history, or trying to at least

Paul
I believe I spotted the last car ever received by Norda. It was a tank
car and they wanted it up on that raised platform. Nothing had been up
there for years. It was difficult just getting the brake on and cutting away,
cause there were no walkways if I recall and the weeds ( trees ) were
pretty thick at the gate. It would have been the summer of 1980, on the
Totowa Roustabout, which at the time was WLDO67 9:30 AM on duty in Dover.

Regular conductor was off the job for a month or so, cause he wanted to
play soft ball evenings, and that job went 11 to 12 hours everyday.

The other two photos show a portion of Norda, a manufacturer of flavors
and
fragrances just west of the Fanny Road bridge. What always impressed me
about this place (other than the various odors that wafted from it) was
that
spur that curved into plant property behind that chain-link fence on what
appears to be about a 10% grade! It's very short, and that the top
immediately levels off onto an elevated unloading/loading structure. (it
appeared that it could take hopper/covered hopper loads OR tank car loads
from this structure) Anyone ever see a car spotted here?

Enjoy!
