Hi folks,
Been going through my personal print collection slowly, and as I find
EL-related stuff I'll post it.
The first two photos are detail views of the underside of the Fanny Road
overpass in Boonton, NJ. These two shots were taken around 1993 when I heard
the bridge was going to be replaced due to leaching of the concrete, so I
went to get detail shots for my own personal modeling. It's a
somewhat-typical DL&W concrete bridge (I've seen similar overpasses in
Totowa and Clifton, I think?). This bridge is now gone, replaced with a
brand-new structure that at least tries to maintain the same "look" (though
the new bridge doesn't have empty slots between its vertical stakes for
"safety")
The other two photos show a portion of Norda, a manufacturer of flavors and
fragrances just west of the Fanny Road bridge. What always impressed me
about this place (other than the various odors that wafted from it) was that
spur that curved into plant property behind that chain-link fence on what
appears to be about a 10% grade! It's very short, and that the top
immediately levels off onto an elevated unloading/loading structure. (it
appeared that it could take hopper/covered hopper loads OR tank car loads
from this structure) Anyone ever see a car spotted here?
Enjoy!
