The extension of weekend service to Montclair uses the same 
crews that run the Newark to Hoboken shuttles connecting 
with Midtown Direct. Whatever handful of passengers use the 
service between Newark and Montclair represent revenue they 
would not otherwise have at essentially the same cost.

There are lots of costs involved in adding crews -- and it 
would not be just one crew -- to provide adequate service 
you'd need many more crews.

And if you want ridership, the trains need to go to Penn 
Station New York instead of Hoboken,  not possible with the 
taking-forever maintenance of the North River Tunnels.

So, now you have to advocate for replacing current service 
into NYP with MSU service AND add crews to provide shuttle 
service to Hoboken as well.
