(erielack) #3912; Roseville Ave to Ampere

To Ed Montgomery & List;In a booklet at the 50th Anniversasry of the DL&W MU's, there was a track map of the original electrification.

It doesn't show this "third track" as electrified. This was a Freight Track to facilitate switching the produce team tracks and industries at Park Ave., Newark, which Bill Shephard's 1974 book calls the 5th Ave Yard, so as to clear passenger trains.

The catenary supports there spanned all 3 tracks, for much of it's length.

Bright-Boy (track-cleaners?) was opposite this.

Off-topic, since NJ created the Income Tax, the fastest-growing industry is SPACE AVAILABLE.

Regarding train SERVICE today, maybe NJT has learned from SEPTA (Society to Eliminate Passenger Trains Always) that they make money NOT running them.

It has always amazed me, how the politicians held the fares down, confiscated the business, and then doubled the fares.

73's, Charlie Gerow
