(erielack) Honesdale Freight Station

It's nice to see Bob Mohowski's article and the drawings by Chuck
Yungkurth in the August, RMC. Here is some additional information and a
couple of questions.

Erie was using the old D&H canal and gravity depot on Main Street in
Honesdale as their freight house into the late 1950s. There was another
tenant at least for awhile; Ralston-Purina leased part of the building
as a distribution warehouse in 1956. By 1958, Honesdale Park and Shop
wanted to purchase the land for a downtown parking lot. Erie sold the
property, but continued as a renter until its new depot was built in
East Honesdale. The new station opened 4-29-59. The old depot was
razed, with the exception of the cupola from the building, which was
saved and moved to a park

Given the above date, was this the last depot built by the Erie? For
that matter were any depots constructed during the EL years?

Also, what was the color of the building when constructed and through
the 1960s? I only remember seeing the later red paint.
