Re: (erielack) O&W F3's on the Erie

Paul Lubliner's NYO&W IN COLOR, from our friends at Morning Sun Press,
hasa section at the end about equipment disposition. The line owned GE 44
toners, NW2's, FT's and F3's.

The 44 tonners were sold early, before closure, being bumped once al the
NW2's arrived. 101 and 105 went to the Salt Lake, Garfield & Western in
Utah and still exist. Most of the NW2's went to the New York Central, but
111-113 first went to the Unadilla Valley, hoping to operate some of the
O&W. When that didn't materialize, they went to the Rock Island. #116
went to the NYC and CR, but was sold to one of the Delaware Otsego's
partners and is now on the NYS&W restored to its original glory. Several
years ago I caught it at Sparta Junction.

FT's 806 amd 807 (A and B units) were sold to the B&O and operated there.
F3's 501-503 went to the Western Pacific's Sacramento Northern. As
earlier noted, 821 and 822 (A and B units) were bought by the Erie; they
were traded in to EMD in the late 1960's (maybe for the SD 45's?). The
other FT's were to be sold by an equipment broker to Mexico, but it didn't
happen and the engines were moved to Croxton for storage. In 1966, NYC
bought them for a song to trade in on for new design engines.
